Job Description

We are looking for a Test Engineer to join our Operations Test Engineering team here in Ottawa, ON. By interfacing between Engineering and Manufacturing you will validate, implement and continuously improve manufacturing test program suites to include procedures, hardware, software and fixtures.

The products we test include single board computers, high performance graphics PMCs, communication PMCs, Ethernet switching products, and high performance DSP cards destined for the rugged Military and Aerospace sectors.

You will work with the Test Development teams to drive Design for Test and Design for Manufacturing principals into both JTAG and functional test development, to include Environmental Stress Screening. As our products mature, you will focus on improving our test efficiencies, while continuing to ensure that our performance and reliability specifications are achieved.


  • Supports the New Production Introduction (NPI) process by working with the Test Development team to validate and implement manufacturing test suites into the production facility;

  • Tests and debugs manufacturing test programs;

  • Develops and/or supports Goepel JTAG programs;

  • Develops and/or support National Instruments Test Stand test executive programs;

  • Train manufacturing test personnel and debug technicians on the use of product test programs and hardware;

  • Review proposed changes to Test Software, Test Hardware and Test procedures in support of the Change Control Board (CCB) process, signing on behalf of Operations Test Engineering where appropriate;


  • Experience with C programming.

  • Experience with LabWindows/CVI and TestStand an asset.

  • Hardware knowledge in the any of the following areas would be an asset: VMEbus, cPCI, PCI, PowerPC processors, RS232/RS485, SCSI, Fast and Gigabit Ethernet, USB, 1553, SATA, networking, PCI-Express, RapidIO.

  • Experience with VxWorks and/or Linux an asset.

  • Deep understanding of configuration management (CM), BOM, data and software structures;

  • Experience implementing DFX principals and techniques.

  • Experience with SAP or another MRP is an asset;

  • Strong social and communication skills

  • Experience working with remote teams in multi-site environments

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

  • 3-5 years experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
