The Opportunity | Mechanical Design Engineer - Turbomachinery


An opportunity to join the Advanced Engineering Department of EPD as a Mechanical Design Engineer.


Location: Bethlehem, PA (greater Philadelphia area)


The Challenge:



  • Perform a variety of specific engineering tasks involving analysis, design and test of centrifugal pumps to meet critical performance requirements and scheduled completion dates

  • Develop, document and execute complex test plans for a variety of pump performance characterization

  • Develop and demonstrate fundamental project planning and execution skills with an understanding of cost and schedule implications associated with execution of the project plan

  • Evaluate pump performance using outputs from analytical tools and test data

  • Participate on multidisciplinary project teams as required to facilitate Continuous Improvement initiatives across EPD.

  • Read and interpret Military Specifications, specific Customer Specifications in the context of developing designs and technical drawings compliant with those Specifications.

  • Become a key contributor to application specific design and technology development programs

  • Learn and implement skills related to managing Bills of Material, manufacturing and test procedures, resolution of non-conformances and providing technical direction and information to other departments.

  • Extensive interaction with both internal and external customers

  • Perform all work in accordance with departmental procedures and instructions, Curtiss-Wright policies and safety, environmental and security rules and guidelines.




Your Expertise:



  • Must be US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance

  • Bachelors in Engineering (minimum)



  • Experience with design and operation of rotating machinery and/or turbomachinery desirable

  • Knowledge of test equipment (including sensors and VFDs) and diagnostic instrumentation

  • Working knowledge of current engineering design and analysis software

  • Familiarity with Industry and Military Specification and Standards

  • Makes good decisions based on engineering fundamentals, analysis and experience
