The Opportunity | Mechanical Engineer


CW's EPD Division is searching for Mechanical Engineer to be based in Bethlehem, PA. EPD and its predecessor companies have been providing naval and maritime technological expertise since 1847. EPD's pumps go to the heart of the systems that enable the Navy's ships and submarines to protect our nation. Today, EPD is the leading supplier of mission-critical pumps for the U.S. Navy's NIMITZ Class aircraft carriers and VIRGINIA Class submarines, as well as the Navy's next generation FORD class aircraft carriers. EPD also supports the entire naval fleet with various innovative pumping solutions such as composite pumps and parts, and provides complete overhaul, upgrade and field service capabilities.


Essential Responsibilities 



  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

  • Develop drawings and ordering data for components based on customer requirements.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports.

  • Using sound engineering analysis and judgement to develop recommendations for non-conforming material as needed.

  • Provide engineering design, support, and training to the manufacturing areas, and assess new and existing equipment to optimize efficiency, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.

  • Assist in assembly and test departments to ensure pumps meet customer requirements. Document test results via technical test reports.

  • Train technicians and operators in manufacturing procedures to ensure consistent adherence of process specifications/standards and procedures.

  • Develop designs for research and development in support of strategic requirements.

  • Design new equipment and machinery to support the in-house needs of Manufacturing and Engineering.



Qualifications/Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • 5 plus years' experience in the same or similar role for complex rotating equipment

  • Rotating machinery experience

  • Knowledge of MIL-Specs

  • Material processing knowledge

  • US Citizen and able to obtain DOD clearance

  • AutoCad and Solidworks knowledge

  • Microsoft Office
