The Opportunity | Payroll Manager



As Payroll Manager, you will serve as the Corporate subject matter expert! Supervise and Manage the Shared services payroll center team and the preparation and disbursement of the Corporation's US and Canadian payrolls. You will be accountable for managing the processing of all US Company payrolls, ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and State payroll regulations, tax filing deadlines and customer support requirements. You will also be responsible for overseeing the preparation, integrity and disbursement of the Corporation's payrolls. The Challenge




  • Manage payroll processing and ensures all payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with the law.

  • Ensures that Payroll is processed accurately and timely for all business units that are in-scope for the Shared Services payroll team services.

  • Manage year-end payroll activities, including coordinating W-2 mailings, mass pay group transfers, and mainframe calculation changes. Coordinates the creation of new earnings/deduction codes with HRIS and ADP, striving for consistent codes across pay groups.

  • Establish best practices for payroll processing and develops procedures to improve existing processes.

  • Manage payroll staff: determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.

  • Responsible for working with HRIS and ADP on mainframe calculations and tax set-up.

  • Works with payroll service provider to respond timely to all tax notices received from government agencies.

  • Oversee and work with HRIS on acquisition transitions into payroll, taking the lead on parallel payroll testing to ensure first go-live payroll is accurate and smooth.

  • Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

  • Produce ad hoc reports on an as needed basis for business units and management.

  • Has expert knowledge of ADP Enterprise and eTime (or similar systems), uses that knowledge to manage the maintenance of the automated payroll system, and assists in installation and maintenance of system modules.



Your Expertise




  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • APA Certification or other national Payroll certification would be an advantage

  • At least 7 years' experience with 4+ years of management experience

  • Proficient in key payroll operations (W2s, liens, Garnishments)

  • Experience with multi-state payrolls, Canadian Payroll including Federal, State, and local tax laws as well as FLSA requirements.

  • Experience with ADP Auto Link payroll along with knowledgeable use of ADP Enterprise

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and a variety of tasks, managing multiple projects

  • Experience in publicly traded companies with 5-10,000 employees
