Job Description


Curtiss-Wright are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our dynamic Production Engineering team at our state of the art facility by Bournemouth Airport. Working in our Avionics division with our Recorder and Air Data products you will identify potential problems with our new and existing production process and suggest ideas on how we may resolve them. You will have previous experience of working within an Aerospace/Military electronic manufacturing or repair background and have hands on experience with electronic and electromechanical products.

Your challenge:




  • Design of tooling and test equipment for new products including assembly aids, test equipment and systems.

  • Front line support of existing products processes and equipment, able to switch priorities and multi task depending on business needs.

  • Defining the assembly process by means standards, work instructions for product build and test and identify training requirements for shop floor staff.

  • Review and advise engineering department on manufacturability of new designs and processes to ensure design for manufacture adhered to.

  • Lead project teams on continuous improvement of existing processes and introduce lean and 5S.

  • Maintain production equipment to ensure continuous operation and high quality of products through the production process.

  • Working with failures of product and equipment to complete fault finding and route cause corrective actions.

  • Designing new jigs, equipment, methods and processes to improve production throughput and yield.


Qualifications and experience



  • Degree qualified ideally Electronic Engineering or HNC with equivalent experience.

  • Experienced in usage of bench electrical test equipment and computers.

  • Able to diagnose faults in electronic circuits, interpret and understand circuit schematics.

  • Ability to write software scripts, experience in at least one high level language e.g. 'C'.

  • Computer literate in MS Office, some experience in 2D or 3D CAD.

  • Lean tools knowledge and experience (5S, continuous improvement, etc)

  • Competent soldering skills and use of common rework tools.

  • Have worked in an Aviation or military based environment and possess familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
