Job Description


Curtiss-Wright are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our dynamic Production Engineering team at our state of the art facility by Bournemouth Airport. Working in our Industrial division with our motor controllers, joystick controllers, linear and rotary sensor products you will identify potential problems with our new and existing production process and suggest ideas on how we can solve them. You will come with previous experience of having done this ideally from an electromechanical medium volume assembly environment.

Your challenge:



  • Design of tooling for new products including test fixtures, assembly aids, flash programming bed of nails

  • Front line support of existing products processes and tooling, able to switch priorities depending on business needs

  • Defining the assembly process by means of layout and work instructions for product build and any required equipment training

  • Review and advise engineering department on manufacturability of new designs and processes to ensure design for manufacture adhered to.

  • Lead project teams on continuous improvement of existing processes and introduce lean and 5S

  • Maintain production equipment to ensure continuous operation and high quality of products through the production process

  • Working with failures of legacy equipment to complete fault finding or replacing obsolete parts

  • Designing new jigs, fixtures and processes to improve production processes

Qualifications and experience



  • Degree qualified ideally Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or HNC qualified with equivalent experience

  • Basic knowledge of material processing processes -- plastic injection moulding, rubber moulding, metal casting, metal finishing

  • Solidworks or 3D CAD knowledge

  • Pneumatics knowledge

  • Lean tools knowledge and experience (5S, continuous improvement, etc)

  • Basic ability on manual machining equipment (lathe, turret mill)

  • Experience of supporting legacy products and equipment

  • Experience in electro/mechanical manufacturing

  • Mechanical design of jigs & fixtures

  • Experience of setting up process lines and services
