Project Scheduler

Location: Idaho Falls, ID

With some support and direction from the Operations Manager and the Project Manager, the Project Scheduler performs the necessary Project Control activities to support their assigned projects, which include but are not limited to: project set-up activities in the in-house database (MS Access) as required with some direction from the Manager or PM on inputs; assists PMs with development of a Project Work Plan; develops and reviews schedules, WBS structures, cost profiles, cost and revenue budgets; performs analysis of schedules and budgets to identify potential risks and opportunities. The Project Scheduler is also expected to take leadership positions within the project team, on a limited basis, as part of their continued development.

Your Challenge:

  • Create and maintain project schedules depicting all project pre-requisite activities, manufacturing operations, purchasing activities, and customer commitments in support of the Production Control activities as required per the Project Management Standards Manual (PMSM) for the assigned production, design, and forecasted projects. Some direction from the PM or Manager on changes or inputs for these schedules is usually provided.
  • Create and maintain cost profiles, approved cost budgets, and forecasted revenue budgets as required per the PMSM for the assigned production, design, and forecasted projects. This includes performance of Earned Value (EV) and/or Pseudo EV cost and schedule analysis as required. Also includes budget analysis to identify risks and opportunities to meeting the financial objectives and provides this information to the Manager or PM for review and decisions. Some direction from the PM or Manager on changes or inputs for these budgets is usually provided.
  • Perform Project Set-up Activities, maintain project information, assist with readiness reviews, and create and update recovery plan schedules and cost estimates as required by per the PMSM for the assigned production, design, and forecasted projects. Some direction for these actions is usually provided by PM or Manager.
  • Assist PM with project related tasks, including supporting customer presentations and meetings, collecting action items and generating minutes from Project Team meetings, and acting as the PM in a limited capacity during the PMs absence, as requested by PM or Manager.
  • Support the PM with quoting and creation of the Project Work Plan (PWP) as required, through the creation and maintenance of project schedules, cost profiles, and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) as requested.
  • Assist with training of Project Control Department personnel through providing of refresher training on Project Scheduling topics and performing limited mentoring to newer members of the group on areas for which they are considered to be the process owners.

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor degree and/or 4-6 years of related experience as a Project Scheduler
  • Understanding of Business principal related to manufacturing and project management
  • Ability to analyze schedules and budgets, and provide risks and opportunity to achieving customer commitments is key.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead a group towards a successful resolution or concurrence to solve a problem
  • Proficient with MS Excel and MS Access
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
