Job Description

 The Opportunity | Engineer | Nuclear Quality Codes & Standards

The ideal candidate will possess a basic understanding of ASME Section III, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, and NQA-1 and have a desire to be trained and mentored to achieve an expert level of understanding of these standards. The candidate will work toward becoming a qualified NQA-1 lead auditor and will have some experience working in the nuclear power industry.



Major Responsibilities:



  • Interpret the requirements of quality standards, such as ASME Section III, NQA-1, ISO-9001, and 10CFR50 Appendix B, for their application to EMD's Quality Assurance Program and to EMD's supply base

  • Serve as an interface with customers, regulators, and registrars during audits of EMD, such as NRC, NNSA, ASME, NUPIC, etc

  • Support internal audits

  • Support maintenance of EMD's ASME, ISO, and HAF 604 Certificates

  • Attend ASME Section III and NQA-1 committee meetings and work toward becoming a committee member

  • Support preparation of ASME Code Data Report Forms for Section III components

  • Support reviews of corrective actions and nonconformance reports for 10CFR Part 21 applicability

  • Organize and maintain quality record files

  • Define and develop quality standards for receiving, in-process and final inspection in accordance with company and contractual requirements

  • Review and evaluate complex in-process rejections and implement corrective action as needed

  • Meet with customers, vendors, and various company departments to resolve quality problems and to provide information

  • Participate in and lead audits

  • Provide technical support to inspection personnel as needed

  • Prepare and provide product assurance documentation as required by customer programs

  • Assume responsibility for the structure, control, and maintenance of EMD's quality program, procedures, work instructions, and records

Education:



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Science


Work Experience Required:



  • Three to five years of experience working in the nuclear industry

  • Ability to manipulate and analyze data and to develop trend charts

  • Prepare presentations

  • Organization skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Must be US citizen and be able to obtain DOD security clearance
