The Opportunity | Senior Buyer

The Senior Buyer role performs procurement activities in support of NPI, engineering, and production materials requirements. Ensures acquired items, goods or services are of the best possible quality and value and that all purchases are in accordance with Arens Controls' procurement policy.

Your Challenge

  • Issue Purchase Order (PO) requests on engineering, manufacturing, production and other related items.

  • Ensure all PO requests are properly reviewed for accuracy, and business relevance.

  • Daily review and act on MRP messages and shortage reports.

  • Prioritize PO requests based on urgency and importance level.

  • Process requests in a timely and effective manner, effectively planning and assuring delivery of items, goods or services by dates required.

  • Maintain internal relationships with the Quality Assurance and Customer Service teams. Works closely with the Quality Assurance and Customer Service teams to resolve issues that may arise. Effectively resolve delivery and quality issues that may arise

  • Ensure that vendors are in compliance with established agreements and are providing materials, goods and services that meet internal quality standards.

  • Responsible for PPV and price increases.

  • Request from suppliers detail price break down and justification on any increases.

  • Maintain supplier on time delivery at no less than 98%. Provide to suppliers monthly score cards and request corrective actions from under-performing suppliers.

  • Negotiate price, payment terms, and meet yearly cost reduction KPI.

Your Expertise

  • Associate's or higher Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field.

  • Understanding of electronic components market is highly desired.

  • Working knowledge working with electronic components, machining, stamping, castings, and plastics suppliers.

  • Knowledge working with Asian suppliers -- conduct conference calls outside of regular working hours.

  • Knowledge working in high mix low volume environment.

  • Working knowledge working for automotive supplier -- TIER I to major automotive customers.

  • 7-10 years procurement experience in a manufacturing environment with proven record of achievements in negotiation, supplier selection, cost reduction.

  • Knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 9001 systems, PPAP, and Lean Manufacturing techniques.

  • APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) and CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certification preferred.
