The Opportunity | Senior Buyer

We are looking for a Senior Buyer at our Peerless facility in NY. You will be responsible for purchasing technical materials, supplies, or services in order to support the manufacture of our advanced electronic products destined for the US military. You will coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, engineering, and quality departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. By processing purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers and working closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues for material and documentation, you will help ensure the organisation meets their goals and our customers are happy.

Your Challenge

  • Gather quotations, select & recommend suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery and quality requirements and services.

  • Ensure material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized.

  • Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.

  • Conduct supplier site visits for evaluation of production capability, performance and delivery.

  • Teach/mentor other Purchasing team members.

Your Expertise

  • A minimum of 5-10 years purchasing experience across all commodities (electronic components and material, machined and fabricated parts, mechanical hardware)

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to read electrical-mechanical drawings

  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations a plus
