The Opportunity | Sr. Director, Tax

We are looking for a Senior Director of Tax to join our global and diverse company. Curtiss Wright Corporation is a $2.5 billion multinational corporation, operating through approx. 70 legal entities including 45 foreign entities in various foreign countries. The tax department consists of ten individuals (including this role), responsible for the management and oversight of worldwide tax compliance, audit, tax accounting, transfer pricing and planning. The tax department must be knowledgeable in all areas of tax (federal, state & foreign) and keep up to date with ever changing tax laws. The position requires the need to manage numerous projects of equally weighted priority and address the business units concerns, questions and needs. The department will process approximately 900 tax returns annually, handle and coordinate foreign and domestic tax audits, perform tax due diligence on acquisitions, coordinate the tax efficient planning in the movement of foreign cash, address various tax notices, prepare global tax provisions and coordinate the tax review by Deloitte, prepare provision to return reconciliations and associated true-up entries, assist the business units with various tax requests. Position has responsibility for all tax accounting and Tax financial disclosures.


Your Challenge:

  • Provide advisory services and support senior management on various tax matters. 

  • Oversee the Corporate Tax Department and a staff of 8 professionals, providing training, performance management and guidance. 

  • Ensure the timely preparation and filing of federal, state, local and foreign tax returns for approximately 70 legal entities, including 45 foreign entities in various foreign countries.

  • Review and preparation of tax accounting and effective tax rates under ASC 740 (FAS109, FIN48, and FAS123R), including related forecasts

  • Manage worldwide audit defense for various taxing jurisdictions.
    Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state and international tax returns prepared by the tax department and outside accounting firms. 

  • Monitor company's transfer pricing policies and preparation of contemporaneous documentation.

  • Act as key member of acquisition team providing due diligence, financial assessment, and tax planning and deal design for strategic acquisitions, divestitures and business combinations.

  • Monitor legislative changes in federal, state and foreign tax laws that may impact company's tax positions, including tax accounting implications and provide recommendations.

  • Manage outside tax consultants and advisors.

  • Manage various projects in support of corporate objectives.


Your expertise:

  • 10 plus years of tax management, in a publicly traded corporation

  • Masters Degree in Accounting and Tax

  • CPA

  • Broad knowledge of federal, state, local and foreign tax laws and regulations

  • Experience with preparation of federal, state, local and foreign returns

  • Experience with transfer pricing documentation

  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Fully conversant in ASC 740, FIN 48

  • Knowledge of CORPTAX US Compliance Software
