The Opportunity | Shop Planner



Under minimal supervision, the Shop Planner plans, schedules, coordinates materials. They are responsible for developing and maintaining the material and production plans utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning system. The Material Planner will initiate requisitions for the procurement of purchased material, review the manufacturing prerequisites, authorize and release work orders to the shop.



Major Accountabilities /Deliverables




  • Develops and maintains production plan and data utilizing the ERP system.

  • Initiate requisitions to Purchasing for the procurement of material and services in accordance with MRP. Ensure that the items are released for purchase and planned for delivery on schedule.

  • Create discrete jobs in accordance with MRP.

  • Release and generate storeroom picks to have material picked in accordance to manufacturing requirements.

  • Coordinate changes to the manufacturing bill of material based on design engineering changes.

  • Determine optimal lot sizes for manufacturing items and the time phases material plan for purchased items.

  • Initiate all releases associated with the Manufacturing Planner position including material transfers, conditional releases, shipping documentation and routing changes.

  • Support project closeout activities by resolving issues to close discrete jobs and open inventory.

  • Monitor material non-conformance and manufacturing pre-requisites to ensure timely completion to support the manufacturing plan. Participate and provide required information for project team readiness reviews.

  • Maintain and communicate accurate status of work in process from time to intital introduction up to shipment, including all outside operations.

  • Provides input to management regarding problems such as scheduling problems, material shortages, design changes and backlogs.


Qualifications:



  • 4-6 years' experience in a similar Materials Management or Manufacturing Planning role

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of ERP, MRP, MS Office.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a similar or related field preferred

  • Experience with Oracle is considered an asset

  • Must be a sole US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance
