The Opportunity | Logistics Supervisor



We are looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to lead our Logistics team at our site in Mississauga, ON. This is the chance for you to get involved in the production of ship borne helicopter handling systems and other sophisticated systems destined for international navies and commercial aviation industries. We will look to you to orchestrate the execution of our production plan to ensure our high quality products get out the door to our customers safely and on time. You will be a natural leader with the ability to have difficult conversations when needed and/or manage conflict as well as a strong ability to encourage, develop and provide direction to our skilled employees.


You will likely have worked in a similar Manufacturing environment and you will have several years of defense industry experience. You are familiar with various government systems and regulations related to both transportation and export/imports.

Location: Mississauga, ON


The Challenge:



  • Apply for, process and perform quarterly reporting for Export Permits

  • Researching and applying applicable HS codes to shipments

  • Liaise regularly with appropriate functional groups to ensure compliance with established cost and schedules

  • Prepare export documentation for shipments via air, ocean and ground (B13)

  • Arrange pickup along with import documentation from various suppliers internationally

  • Liaise with freight forwarders and apply for Commercial Bill of Ladings (CBLs)

  • Direct and listen to employees in a manner that will promote good employee relations and produce a well-motivated and productive workforce.

  • Conduct regular communication and safety meetings within departments. Thorough knowledge and understanding of OHSA.

  • Promote staff development.

  • Ensure plant activities are carried out in a safe, orderly manner.

  • Recommend improvements to methods, equipment, tooling, etc, and encourage others to do so.

  • Provide input to the Manager for the preparation of departmental budgets.

  • Monitor all hours worked, track attendance and balance overtime of direct reports.

  • Ensure all trade qualifications are up-to-date and records maintained.

  • Take every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of employees





Your Expertise:


* 3+ years of experience working as a Supervisor


* Previous experience with HS codes

* Knowledge of import permits and tariff quotas

* Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR/Controlled Goods/Canada Import & Export Controls Act

* Experience with export regulations, Letters of Credit and Export Permits application and reporting

* Excellent communication and customer service skills

* Experience in Mil-spec packaging/labels (2073) procedure

* Ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines

* Ensure dangerous goods packaging and documentation is in accordance with regulations

* Submit receiving reports where needed for DFAS/Canadian Commercial Shipments

* Registered users of various government websites i.e Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) and Commercial Asset Visibility (CAV)

* Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

* Understanding and experience with computerized ERP systems

* College diploma/degree or equivalent
