Sr Chemical Technician

Provide analytical support and perform high quality chemical analyses to meet customer expectations in a timely and cost effective manner. The position entails sample preparation, operation of instrumentation, performing a variety of analytical tests, and training others. 

Location: Lansing, NY

Your Challenge:

  • Perform mechanical and chemical sample preparations. Mechanical sample prep will include cutting, drilling and grinding of metal samples. Chemical sample prep will include mainly acid digestions of metal samples and dilutions.
  • Analyze samples using a variety of analytical instrumentation. Analytical instrumentation may include but are not limited to an oxygen/nitrogen analyzer, hydrogen analyzer, carbon/sulfur determinator, particle size analyzer, optical emission spectrometer and inductively coupled plasma -- atomic emission spectrometer.
  • Perform typical gravimetric and volumetric tests. These tests include but are not limited to coating weights, densities, moisture content, ash content, sieve analysis, and titrations.
  • Assist in keeping work areas presentable.

Your Expertise:

  • Associate's Degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • At least 0-4 years in a test lab or industrial setting
