Mechanical Engineer

Requires application of mature engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects having scope for independent accomplishment and co-ordination of difficult and responsible assignments. Assigned problems make it necessary to modify established guides, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new ways, and draw conclusions from comparative situations.

Your Challenge:

• Ensure all work is performed according to the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Recommendations reviewed for soundness of judgement but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible.
• Design and maintain electronic systems for military naval systems.
• Analyse customer needs and determine mechanical system requirements, capacity and cost.
• Support interfacing disciplines such as electrical, software, test, customer support, manufacturing, production, product management and project management.
• Work with project managers on production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
• Occasional travel to support on site field service activities.
• Follows every reasonable precaution to ensure work is performed following the Health & Safety procedures. Immediately report accidents and incidents and participate in their investigations.

Your Expertise:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Science
• PEO "Professional Engineer" designation
• 7 plus years of engineering experience.
• Experience with naval or airborne machinery including winches, large projects and their management, as well as government and international customers would be an asset.
• Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other departments
• Familiar with preparation of project plans, test procedures, qualification testing and technical reports.
• Must be Canadian citizen and able to obtain and maintain security clearance of secret level or higher
