Junior Buyer

The Junior Buyer is responsible for purchasing a variety of materials, supplies and services. Other responsibilities include coordinating purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. You will need to process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. You will also need to monitor the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value. This position requires interacting closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.

Location: Arlington Heights, IL

Your Challenge:

  • Evaluate bids to select and recommend suppliers
  • Negotiates price, delivery, quality and service.
  • Follow up on all bid awards until completion of order.
  • Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.
  • May be required to conduct supplier site visit and rate suppliers against production capability, performance and delivery.
  • Responsible for complying with corporate policies, procedures and underlying Federal, state and/or local regulations concerning the purchase or shipment of goods, materials, or services.

Your Expertise:

  • 1-3 years' of purchasing Experience for Electro Mechanical Products (plastics, printed circuit board's, stamped/Mmachined parts etc.)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Experience sourcing, auditing and negotiating with suppliers
  • Associates' degree or above preferred, high school diploma or GED is required
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to work with various teams across an organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at any given time
  • Creative trouble shooting and problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with Engineering Drawing/Blue Print Reading
