Curtiss-Wrights Sensors group are recruiting for a Production Team Leader to help support and lead a group of electrical or mechanical assembly personnel. This key role will support in the manufacturing of electronic or other hardware to customer and engineering specifications, quality requirements, within cost/budget restraints and on schedule.

You will be providing support to Supervisor in assuring that there are adequate materials, supplies, tools and equipment.

Successful candidates will have previous Assembly experience from any cell area and keen to share their knowledge with others, as well as previous team leader experience. 

The Challenge:

  • Operate in various Production Cells performing product assembly, repair and test functions
  • May assemble components to a final configured product utilising process and drawing instructions and blueprints and specialized tooling and fixtures, measuring equipment and hand tools
  • Reads and interprets assembly drawings, parts lists, operations sheets and visual aids
  • May order appropriate test equipment to support the test schedules or design, build and document special test equipment
  • Operate a "right first time/every time" and "zero defects" philosophy strategy within the department.
  • Verify quality of product at the required intervals and verify accuracy of all work. Work with manufacturing Engineering and Engineering to submit changes in assembly/test requirements.
  • Provides training and support to lower level electronic or mechanical assembly personnel as required.
  • May assist in determining manpower and skills needed so those schedules are maintained
  • Comply with all Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
  • Perform visual inspection and Final Release to authorised levels
  • Ensure all necessary Test Equipment/Tooling being utilised is available and within calibration
  • Comply with all Health and Safety requirements
  • Fully contribute to achieving Business Unit KPI (Key Performance Indicator) targets

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience with operating in Production Cells performing Assembly, Repair and Test Functions
  • Previous Team Leader experince
  • Able to perform a variety of tasks, operating as part of a multi skilled operator pool
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to others with key assembly tasks
  • Experience in providing support to the team
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to perform a variety of tasks, including soldering, mechanical assembly, crimping and wiring and fine work
  • Experience within an electronic/mechanical manufacturing environment advantageous
  • Able to read and understand drawings and technical instructions
  • With instruction, use departments' process and test equipment/machines.
  • Team player, with good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail, working either as an individual or as part of a team to produce products high in quality and workmanship in the timescales required
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the business
