Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for planning and implementing activities related to the procurement of electronic and mechanical parts, components, and equipment. They will direct the activities of buyers and expediters to maximize effectiveness, compliance, and management of the strategic and tactical sourcing functions. They will be responsible for reviewing and approving purchases up to a specified dollar amount as well as negotiating major contracts involving large dollar amounts.

Your Challenge:

  • Acts as liaison with program management, material control, quality assurance, and engineering
  • Assures that all information/data and priorities/critical items from the Purchasing department interfacing groups are received, processed, and integrated into the purchasing function
  • Re-develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service
  • Designs, implements, manages, and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements and develops measurable delivery performance measures.
  • Searches and develops new sources of supply and keeps informed of new products, manufacturing processes, and price trends
  • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in the defense/aerospace or naval industries is highly desirable
  • Minimum 10 years related supply chain / procurement experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Prior supervisory/management experience required
  • Due to the nature of the work performed at this facility, this role may require a DOD Government security clearance. Incumbents must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance while employed by this site.
