The Opportunity | Senior Technical Writer

Responsible for researching, organizing, writing, editing and producing technical data for major publication projects. Organizes material and writes descriptive copy according to standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology. Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style. May provide work leadership for lower level employees. Excellent written communication skills.

Major Accountabilities /Deliverables

  • Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication

  • Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation

  • Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users

  • May document engineering processes and specifications

  • Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements

  • Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards


  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required

  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in technical writing

  • Experience using software configuration tools to facilitate the generation of user facing documentation

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office

  • Organization, and presentation skills are required
